The Best Adaptogens

In yesterday's email, we spoke about adaptogens, if you haven't read it, it's worth it - we promise!

Today we want to speak about two of the best adaptogens.

1. Moringa: The Miracle Plant

Moringa can change the world.

It has been claimed to cure over 300 diseases.

The use of it has been approved by the World Health Organization as one of the answers to malnutrition on a global scale.

It has more than 92 nutrients and 46 types of antioxidants and is considered the most nutrient dense plant on the planet

It’s like a multivitamin straight from nature: It is an incredible immune booster and gives your body the nutrients it needs to perform optimally.

In the last few years, the worldwide interest and consumption of the Moringa plant has increased by around 100x and is expected to (at least) keep on growing by 8% every year until 2026. Everyone's finally waking up!

Moringa has 15x the Potassium of Bananas, 7x the Vitamin C of Oranges, 17x the Calcium of Milk, 9x the Protein of Yoghurt, 25x the Iron of Spinach, 10x the Vitamin A of Carrots and a whole lot more!

Some of the benefits are: more energy, healthy weight maintenance, muscle growth, better brain performance, healthy hair & nail growth and healthy skin.

Ashwagandha helps relieve stress, balance energy levels, improve athletic performance, balance hormones and more.

It has been used for thousands of years across China and India and is an important herb in traditional herbal practices such as Ayurveda.

Research on Ashwagandha continues to evolve as scientists around the world study its effectiveness against a variety of ailments.

Here are a few science-backed benefits of Ashwagandha.

1. Relieves Stress and Anxiety

Ashwagandha is best known for its stress-relieving properties which are extremely important as you already know from our previous emails.

Ashwagandha reduces cortisol, which is our stress hormone. When you are stressed you exert a lot of energy which can make you very tired later on.

Researchers have also confirmed that the herb helps people to sleep much better.

2. Increases Muscle Strength & Aerobic Fitness

Ashwagandha helps increase muscle growth and vo2 max (aerobic fitness).

Studies show that people who took Ashwagandha and participated in resistance training had significantly greater gains in muscle strength and size compared with a placebo group who didn't take Ashwagandha.

Studies also show that Ashwagandha enhances oxygen usage during exercise and increases VO2 max which is used as a measurement of heart and lung fitness.

Low VO2 max is associated with increased mortality risk, while higher VO2 max is associated with a lower risk of heart disease.

3. Increases Focus and Memory

Studies have found that Ashwagandha can improve attention spans, as well as immediate and general memory

4. Hormone Balance & Sexual Function

Ashwagandha also helps with hormonal imbalances in both men and women. It can help increase testosterone in men and help with menopausal issues in women. It also helps increase libido and fertility

3. Sea Moss

Sea Moss is a sea vegetable that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and it has potential health benefits for skin health, thyroid health, energy levels, and immune function.

Sea Moss contains 92 out of the 102 minerals that our bodies need. Many diseases and ailments can be traced back to vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Main Benefits

1. Digestive Function

Sea moss is a good source of live bacteria and fibre, which are known to support gut health.

2. Thyroid Function

Sea moss contains iodine, which is good for your thyroid and can help with weight management

3. Energy

Sea moss contains iron. A lack of iron can make you feel tired and lethargic.

4. Healthy Skin

Sea moss contains magnesium, vitamin A, vitamin K, and omega-3 fatty acids that hydrate and support healthy skin cell function.

*Note: Both Sea Moss and Moringa are good for your skin. However, they have different nutritional profiles and may be more beneficial for certain skin conditions. For example, Sea Moss is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can help manage oil production and reduce acne, while Moringa is rich in vitamin C, which can help neutralize free radicals that lead to wrinkles, premature ageing, and sagging skin.

If you are looking for one supplement for your skin we would recommend Sea Moss, but a combination of both will be best.

5. Immunity

Early studies suggest that sea moss can boost the immune system.

6. Boost Mood

Sea moss has about two times more potassium than an average banana. Potassium helps to support mental and emotional health by decreasing stress and anxiety. (Moringa contains more Potassium)

7. Heart Health

Studies suggest that sea moss can help lower cholesterol levels and act as a blood thinner, which can reduce the risk of heart disease

8. Regulate Blood Sugar

One study into seaweeds, like sea moss, found the compound fucoxanthin, which is thought to normalise high blood sugar levels.

9. Supports Overall Health and Wellness

Sea moss is a powerful superfood that's full of minerals and nutrients that can help with many different functions in the body.
